Notaciones y estándares para el Modelado de Procesos de Negocio

Cuando una organización se orienta a procesos implantando la disciplina de Gestión Por Procesos (Business Process Management -BPM), lo más usual es utilizar para el modelado (Negocio) y el diseño (TI) de procesos de negocio, el estándar ISO (desde 2013) BPMN (Business Process Model & Notation) de la OMG, que está respaldado por la mayoría de los fabricantes BPM. Algunas empresas prefieren usar en sus iniciativas BPM otras notaciones, como por ejemplo, S-BPM (subject- BPM) que está respaldado por un único fabricante (Allgeier IT con su producto Metasonic Suite y su espectacular mesa de modelado), o la notación EPC que también está respaldado principalmente por Software AG con ARIS (aunque tienden a que usen BPMN que también lo soportan, o traducir de EPC a BPMN), UML se usa más por TI (pero es bueno que Negocio y TI hablen el mismo idioma por lo que BPM es ideal para esa comunicación); y otras notaciones que se muestran en la imagen.
