New Gartner’s Magic Quadrant report for Enterprise Architecture Tools (Oct 2019)
Gartner has published an updated Magic Quadrant report for Enterprise Architecture, and they have updated its market definition and functionality for enterprise architecture (EA) tools for 2019.
Enterprise Architecture Definition:
"EA is a discipline that proactively and holistically leads enterprise responses to disruptive forces. It does this by identifying and analyzing the execution of change toward the desired business vision and outcomes. Mainstream viewpoints of EA include:
- Business architecture, which guides people, process and organizational change
- Information architecture, which focuses on the consistent sharing of information across the enterprise
- Security architecture, which is focused on relating business problems, threats and agile IT to the defenses the organization needs to build
- Solution architecture, which develops a direction for managing the portfolios of to-be solutions
- Technical architecture, which focuses on evolving the technical infrastructure" (Gartner, 2019)
About the Magic Quadrant
The Magic Quadrant are focused on the diverse market of EA tool vendors, and Gartner studies 15 evaluation criteria, one of them is related to product or service functions, but the other 14 evaluation criteria are focused on the vendors’ ability to meet the requirements of this market, so Gartner advises that the best EA tool vendor for their organizations might be outside the Leaders quadrant.
